When making the base size, most customers will match the overall size of the cabin. However, you can be more precise to match the footprint.
This would mean that the logs would sit flush to the base, with the interlocking corners overhanging. The footprint is the size of the cabin not including the interlocking corners, these normally overhang by 100mm at each end of the log.
Making the base to the footprint size would only work with the standard foundation beams, as these are a basic shape. Whereas the profiled ones have a slope which means you would need to make the base slightly larger, to allow for the shape of these.
As all the weight of the cabin is resting on the walls, this is the area of the cabin that will need to be supported. It is important that the cabin is supported throughout the entire periemter and length of the walls.
Whilst some customers will want to be very accurate with their base, there is also no problem with making the base larger. Depending on what you might be doing around the cabin. If you were to do this, you want to consider using guttering to help the cabin cope with splashback. Guttering will also mean there will be less stress on the cabins treatment.

These dimensions on the website for the cabin size and footprint for the base are excluding the roof overhangs. Therefore, you will need to bear this in mind when positioning the cabin close to a boundary.
