If you would like your Log Cabin to have additional windows, we can happily supply them. Please see our available range of glazed windows:
If it is important that a window matches exactly the one in the main cabin it must be ordered as a 'special' order, but this can delay the delivery as this will need to be specially made.
It is possible to add an additional window into the cabin at anytime, this does not need to be when you are installing the cabin, this can be done when the cabin is built.
With any additional windows you would just need to cut the spacing for the cabin when this is there with you. When doing this, you will need to cut a hole size that allows for the size of the window itself but also for the expansion and contraction of the timber.
- Height of Summer: The wood will be at its smallest as a lot of moisture will have escaped. Therefore only a small gap of 10 – 15mm maybe necessary as the building is only likely to expand more as Autumn and Winter arrive.
- Depths of Winter: The wood will be at its largest size as it will have absorbed a lot of moisture from the surrounding air. Therefore a gap of 20 – 30mm maybe necessary as the building is only likely to contract as the Spring and Summer arrive.
It is also important not to cut the hole any closer than 200mm from any corner or another window or door. Ideally leave at least two clear logs above the window, maintaining integrity of the building.
When installing the additional window, you will find that the extra windows are designed to be suited for all of our log thicknesses from 28mm to 70mm. Therefore, you will need to use the window spacer to match the thickness of your cabin, as shown below:
We do have a good blog that explains further things to consider when adding an additional window, please see this linked below:
